Professional Statement
Julie W. Childers, MD, FAAHPM, FASAM, is a Professor of Medicine with a clinical practice focusing on the intersection of addiction medicine and palliative care. Dr. Childers’ research interests include end of life ethics, approaches to managing addiction in individuals with serious illness, and teaching communication. She serves as the Ethics Lead for the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and is the medical director of the clinical ethics consultation service at UPMC Presbyterian/Shadyside Hospital. She completed internal medicine residency at University of Rochester Medical Center and her fellowship and medical degree at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
