Abstract: In light of the Supreme Court’s decision regarding affirmative action, including in university admissions, Dr. Anderson will discuss the concept of 'white space' and the challenges it poses for Black persons, as well as the historical significance of affirmative action in the development of America's Black middle class. Dr. Anderson’s research has consistently focused on urban life in the United States, and his recent work focuses on the experience of Black Americans in both urban and academic settings. In addition to his academic publications, he has published in popular forums such as The New Yorker and The Atlantic.
