Abstract: Dr. Kalanithi is an advocate for culture change in healthcare and focuses on end-of-life care, caregiving, and clinician wellness. Dr. Kalanithi shepherded to publication the New York Times-bestselling memoir When Breath Becomes Air, written by her husband, a Stanford Medicine neurosurgeon, about his diagnosis and treatment for stage IV metastatic lung cancer. Dr. Kalanithi wrote the epilogue for his memoir. Now, five years after his death, she will reflect on her experience and her goal of encouraging compassionate healthcare.
