All the Names They Used for God

June 21, 2019 -
7:00pm to 9:00pm

Medical Humanities and Department of English faculty member Anjali Sachdeva will read from her collection of short stories, All the Names They Used for God, which was named a Best Book of 2018 by NPR, Refinery 29, and BookRiot, longlisted for the Story Prize, and chosen as the 2018 Fiction Book of the Year by the Reading Women podcast. She will share this reading event with Clare Beams, who will read from her short story collection, We Show What We Have Learned. Sachdeva’s collection includes dystopian stories about genetically modified septuplets afflicted by a mysterious illness and people whose hands are replaced by claws, and explores the way that a magical lens can help readers face and develop responses to traumatic events.
