The annual Medical Ethics Update conference provides attendees with an opportunity to hear presentations on an issue of national importance, to participate in a question-and-answer period with speakers, and to participate in smaller, more intimate breakout sessions with presenters. Visiting Scholar, Kerstin Weider, MD
Visiting Scholar, Kerstin Weider, MD, joins the Center from Dresden, Germany, where she is Medical director of the Department of Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Medicine, University Hospital C. G. Carus. In addition to meeting informally with students and faculty of the CBHL, Magee Womens Hospital, and Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, Dr. Weidner will discuss ethical implications of an innovative project designed to improve the mental health of pregnant women and new mothers.

Douglas White was appointed to an Endowed Chair in Ethics and Decision Making in the School of Medicine.
Lisa Parker
Lisa Parker has been appointed to the newly established nine- member Genomics and Society Working Group (GSWG) of the National Advisory Council for Human Genome Research. The Working Group is to provide advice to the Advisory Council regarding short- and long-range priorities for “genomics and society activities” at the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI).
