We Emerge: A Virtual Clinical Ethics Summit—Cultivating Respect for Persons, Navigating Clinical Care with Patients, Families & Communities

January 28, 2022 (All day)

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated existing ethical concerns and raised novel questions for clinical ethicists. As the country grapples with the inequities illuminated by the virus response, calls for addressing structural racism in healthcare, an uneven national vaccine roll-out, and contentious conversations about the role of science in society, there is an opportunity to reflect on the state of clinical ethics and learn from a time of rapid change and turmoil.

A year after the rollout of the first COVID-19 vaccine, this summit is an opportunity to chart the course forward with a focus on clinical practice, policy, healthcare education, and bioethical research. A roadmap created from moderated conversations of subject matter experts will guide ethics program development in these core realms.
