Daniel Wilkenfeld, PhD
Assistant Professor of Acute & Tertiary Care
School of Nursing, University of Pittsburgh

Abstract: In this work-in-progress presentation, Dr. Wilkenfeld will argue that according to the currently dominant models, ‘disability’ is a broken concept—that is, it licenses inferences from someone having a particular condition to their being overall disadvantaged. He will argue that we should think of disability as best characterized for each individual and will then consider what that would mean for current usage.
