New Directions in Bioethics Seminar

April 3, 2020 (All day) to April 4, 2020 (All day)

Abstract: This two-day seminar will focus on new or perennial controversies in bioethics that help us better understand particular subject areas and the values and principles underlying bioethics as a whole.  Papers on the following topics are particularly welcome: intersectionalities in bioethics; “untouchable” topics in bioethics; bioethics in the age of Trump, populism, or nationalism; and other new directions in bioethics.

To propose a presentation for this seminar, submit a 300-500 word abstract to Dennis Cooley, North Dakota State University, by November 30. Abstracts from all disciplines in bioethics are encouraged. A number of the presentations may be revised and considered for publication in special issues of Ethics, Medicine, and Public Health.

Co-sponsored by the Center for Dialogue Ethics and Spirituality at Lehigh University, the Northern Plains Ethics Institute at North Dakota State University, and the International Academy of Medical Ethics and Public Health.
