Family Guide to Mental Illness and the Law: A Practical Handbook

Abstract: This discussion of Prof. Tashbook’s new book about legal issues, for families of people with mental illness, will include comments by Jack Rozel, MD, MSL, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Adjunct Professor of Law, and Medical Director of re:solve Crisis Services, and by Christina Newhill, PhD, Professor of Social Work.  Prof. Tashbook was prompted to write Family Guide to Mental Illness and the Law: A Practical Handbook by her encounters with consumers of mental health services and their families and caseworkers. She is a volunteer attorney with Project H.E.L.P., Vice-President of NAMI FAMILIAS Pittsburgh East, and a member of the SOS Pittsburgh committee at Jewish Family and Community Service. In her private pro bono law practice she primarily works on poverty law, mental health law, and non-profit law.
