Abstract: This talk will present the major findings of the Turnaway Study—namely, how access to abortion affects people’s health, economic security, and the trajectory of their lives. It will present the reasons people give for wanting to terminate an unwanted pregnancy and the consequences for their health and families when they are or are not able to get an abortion. It will also discuss the relevance of study results to impending Supreme Court rulings in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.
