The Catastrophist

March 15, 2021 (All day) to April 9, 2021 (All day)

Written by Lauren M. Gunderson
Directed by Jasson Minadakis
Featuring William DeMerittu

The Catastrophist is a world premiere theatrical experience built of and for this moment in time. It dives into the profundities of scientific exploration and the harrowing realities of facing your own mortality through the story of virologist Nathan Wolfe. He was named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for his work tracking Ebola and swine flu. He proposed pandemic insurance years before the novel coronavirus outbreak. No one bought it. Now, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we hear his story—presented entirely digitally. America’s most produced playwright Lauren Gunderson returns with a time-jumping tale based on the life and work of Nathan Wolfe (who also happens to be her husband). The Catastrophist was commissioned by Marin Theatre Company and is co-produced by Marin Theatre Company and Round House Theatre.
