11th Annual Western Michigan University Medical Humanities Conference

September 23, 2021 (All day) to September 24, 2021 (All day)

Abstract: This annual conference considers perspectives on the intersection of the humanities and health, including patient narratives, the history of medicine and healthcare, biomedical ethics, spirituality, arts, and literature.

Proposals of 500 words are invited for presentation of individual papers and especially panels that bring together individuals from different backgrounds or academic areas to discuss a common question, theme, or issue. Proposals of performance art—spoken word, poetry, acting, and music are also welcome. All proposals must be submitted by May 15 to medical‑humanities@wmich.edu.

Due to ongoing uncertainty regarding the pandemic, vaccines, and university travel budgets, we will be hosting the meeting online through Microsoft Teams.  We hope to return to a physical meeting in Kalamazoo next year.
