Performances—Magic and Magical Jazz

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will be on its European tour, and the downtown theaters seem to be dark during the ASBH meeting; however, Lee Terbosic will be performing a tribute to Harry Houdini, Oct. 23-Nov. 3, at Liberty Magic, Pittsburgh’s theater specifically designed to provide up-close magic shows for adults (shows are generally not appropriate for children).

Jazz thrives in Pittsburgh clubs. Closest to the convention center, for jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings, are: Andy’s in the Fairmont Hotel  and NOLA on the Square, which has a nouveau Creole menu.

Con Alma, in the neighborhood of Shadyside, has jazz, cocktails, and a Latin menu Thursday – Saturday evenings and for Sunday brunch.

Calendars for the Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild and the Kelly Strayhorn Theater, which host local and national jazz performers, are worth a look.
